About the Role
St Stithians College is looking for a qualified and experienced Music Teacher to join their Junior Preparatory School. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and creative environment, focusing on teaching music, leading the choir and orchestra, and contributing to the broader life of the school.
Key Responsibilities:

Teach individual piano lessons to students choosing piano as their instrument of choice.

Play for Chapel services, as well as all Junior Prep and College events.

Manage and oversee the music department, including coordinating and organizing music/drama events and school functions.

Lead the choir and/or orchestra.

Attend and participate in music department meetings and other campus-related meetings.

Manage part-time music staff, including administrative tasks and operational duties.

Incorporate modern pedagogies and technologies in teaching and sound production (familiarity with Apple-based technologies and apps is advantageous).

Stay current on the latest trends in music education and share those with the team.

Work collaboratively with various teams within the school and contribute to the Methodist Church-based ethos of the College.
Requirements:

Relevant music qualification from a recognized institution.

Competence as a pianist and accompanist (compulsory).

Experience teaching in an IEB school is preferred.

Ability to teach music in preparatory and primary school environments and provide training for external music examinations (Royal Schools, UNISA, Trinity).

Strong administrative skills and the ability to manage part-time staff.

Experience and ability to lead the choir and/or orchestra.

A future-oriented approach to teaching with a focus on innovation and differentiation.

A well-developed EQ, mindfulness, and emotional agility.

SACE registration and a sexual offender’s clearance certificate.

Commitment to the school’s ethos and involvement in co-curricular activities.

Willingness to work within the Methodist Church-based ethos of the College.
