Position Details
St John’s College seeks to appoint an experienced and professionally qualified Master in Charge (MIC) of Hockey to lead and manage the College Hockey programme (Grades 8–12), with involvement at Preparatory School level. The role includes overseeing development, organisation, and delivery of Hockey at a competitive level, while also contributing to academic life through teaching Physical Education and one other subject (preferably Life Sciences or English).
This role requires flexibility, with evening, weekend, and holiday commitments for fixtures, tournaments, and training programmes.
Main Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the College Hockey programme.

Communicate and collaborate with the Head Coach and Director of Sport.

Oversee fixture planning, organisation, and administration.

Assist with coach appointments and budgeting.

Supervise and develop players on and off the field.

Develop seasonal plans and pre-season training programmes.

Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline across all age groups.

Teach Physical Education and one other subject in the College.

Positively engage with parents and the broader school community.
Requirements

Teaching qualification with SACE registration.

At least 5 years’ coaching experience at a competitive Secondary School level.

SAHA Level 2 coaching certification (mandatory).

SAHA and/or FIH Level 3 certification (advantage).

First Aid qualification.
