The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It is mandated by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 to drive skills development within the mining and minerals sector (MMS). Its scope includes Coal, Gold, Platinum Group Metals (PGM), Diamonds, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, Sand, Diamond Processing, and Jewellery Manufacturing.

The MQA invites unemployed South African citizens who have never participated in an internship before to apply for an internship within its Risk & Compliance Unit.

Internship Details

  • Unit: Risk & Compliance / Learning Programmes

  • Reporting to: Senior Manager: Learning Programmes

  • Focus Areas:

    • Assist with administration related to Learning Programmes projects

    • Register learning programmes agreements for all projects

    • Provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders

    • Organise events (meetings and workshops) for the Learning Programmes Unit

    • Liaise and maintain stakeholder relationships

    • Assist with travel arrangements for the Learning Programmes Unit

    • Handle filing and document control

    • Provide general administrative support as required

    • Perform additional tasks delegated by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in one of the following:

    • Human Resources Management/Development

    • Business Management

    • Business Administration

    • Public Management

    • Project Management

  • Added Advantage: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in the above-mentioned fields

Competencies Required

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of skills development legislation in education and training

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Proactive and customer-oriented attitude

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages
