Requirements
Educational Qualification:

Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
Professional Registration:

Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist.
Experience:

Grade 1:
-
RSA-qualified: None after HPCSA registration
-
Foreign-qualified: 1 year relevant experience (Community Service not required)

RSA-qualified: Minimum 8 years relevant experience

Foreign-qualified: Minimum 9 years relevant experience (Community Service not required)

Grade 3:

RSA-qualified: Minimum 16 years relevant experience

Inherent Requirements:

Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence

Willingness to work at clinics and hospitals within the Swartland Sub-district
Competencies (Knowledge / Skills):

Ability to function independently and within a multi-disciplinary team

Excellent clinical consultation skills

Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

Knowledge of relevant Department of Health Western Cape legislation and policies
Duties
-
Develop psychological and counselling services at PHC level
-
Provide clinical services at designated CDCs and clinics, including:
-
Evidence-based short- and long-term psychotherapies
-
Support and containment work
-
Telehealth services
-
-
Liaise with service providers and stakeholders for patient referrals
-
Develop and facilitate referral pathways
-
Capacity building: supervision, mentorship, and training of psychologists, interns, students, and staff
-
Champion mental health within the Department of Health and develop intersectoral partnerships with NPOs and health role-players

Perform administrative duties related to clinical work, data collection, and line-management
-
Adhere to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements
