Fedics, part of Tsebo Solutions Group, is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team in Midrand. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals using standardized recipes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently and safely. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Take customer orders and prepare food to their specifications, including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, desserts, and more.

  • Special Diets: Prepare meals for special diets according to specific recipes.

  • Supervision: Assist in training and directing food service workers, students, and other kitchen personnel.

  • Order Management: Ensure that all items in an order are completed and served at the same time.

  • Salads & Desserts: Assist with preparing salads and desserts.

  • Cooking Techniques: Grilling, frying, and cooking foods as required.

  • Inventory Management: Notify the supervisor of food and supplies needed and assist with receiving deliveries.

  • Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and kitchen equipment. Secure and store food in the refrigerator and freezer.

  • Quality Control: Monitor food quality and report any issues to the kitchen manager. Maintain food production records.

  • Sanitation & Safety: Follow sanitation and safety protocols at all times.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Independence: Ability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision.

  • Communication: Clear communication skills with both management and kitchen staff.

  • Customer-Focused: Prioritize customer satisfaction through high-quality meal preparation.

  • Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in food preparation and cleanliness.

  • Endurance: Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric or equivalent.

  • Relevant Qualification in cooking or culinary arts would be an advantage.

  • 2-4 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting.
