Position Overview
At the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ), we are committed to providing an exceptional education that empowers global citizens. The Learner-Specific Pathway (LSP) serves students with cognitive and developmental disabilities who need modified and individualized curriculums. The LSP Teaching Partner supports students enrolled in this service, working alongside LSP teachers, the Student Support Services team, and other educators to ensure students receive the assistance they need.
The role includes both in-class and one-on-one support for students, working to develop academic, emotional, and social skills in a collaborative learning environment. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is passionate about student growth and thrives in a nurturing, diverse, and inclusive learning community.
Key Responsibilities

Provide in-class support to students in the LSP program.

Assist with emotional, behavioral, and academic development, fostering self-regulation and social skills.

Collaborate with the Student Support Services Team and LSP teachers.

Provide direct support in LSP classrooms and small group settings.

Assist students with learning challenges, reinforcing lesson content and providing scaffolding strategies.

Keep consistent notes regarding student progress and challenges.

Participate in team meetings, professional development, and assist with after-school activities.

Maintain effective communication with other educators and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Assist with supervision duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications
-
Teaching degree and experience, preferably in Special Education.

Strong command of written and spoken English.

Demonstrated patience and understanding when dealing with students.

Ability to work independently and proactively address students’ needs.

Experience working in a school setting is preferred.

Competent computer skills and ability to use educational technology.

Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 188 days per school year.
