Cowan House is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual for the role of Head of Sport. This middle management position requires a strategic leader who will oversee the full range of sporting activities at the school, working closely with the Head and Deputy Head to shape and implement the school’s sports vision.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead, implement, and monitor the sports programme across all grades.

Manage and direct the various sports codes with strategic vision and hands-on involvement.

Coordinate fixtures, events, and training schedules, ensuring smooth operations.

Foster a supportive and team-oriented environment for students to develop skills, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and pupils, building positive relationships and promoting school values.

Create and manage the department budget.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Appropriate university degree or professional qualification and registered with SACE
-
At least five years of experience in a similar role
-
Strong administrative, organisational, and communication skills

Proven ability to coach and manage all school sport

Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and education policies in Physical Education and sports development

Experience organising school sports programmes and coordinating inter-school events

Excellent time management skills and the willingness to work on weekends

Enthusiastic, approachable, and able to engage positively with parents, staff, and children

The ability to uphold the Christian ethos and values of the school
-
Recent and valid Police, Child Protection, and National Sexual Offenders Clearances
