About the Opportunity
Midvaal Local Municipality invites qualified and disciplined individuals to apply for Fire Fighter Internship positions (x12) based in Meyerton. This structured internship aims to provide practical training and exposure in fire and rescue operations within the Sedibeng Region.
🧑🚒 Preference will be given to applicants from the Sedibeng Region.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Grade 12 or equivalent
✅ Firefighter 1 & 2, Hazmat Awareness, and Operations (or equivalent)
✅ First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course
✅ Code C Driver’s License
✅ Medically and physically fit to perform operational duties
✅ Must be able to swim
✅ No phobias (e.g., claustrophobia, acrophobia)
✅ Experience or knowledge in fire and rescue — advantageous
✅ Minimum 3 months of internship experience — advantageous
✅ Hard-working and self-disciplined
Key Duties & Responsibilities
🔥 Respond to daily operational tasks and orders from the Station Officer
🚒 Attend to fire, rescue, and emergency incidents with senior personnel
🧰 Test, check, and clean fire vehicles and equipment
📋 Report malfunctions or defects to the officer on duty
🏠 Conduct fire combat operations (structural, grass, and wildland fires)
🧯 Protect property and fire equipment
📞 Perform control room duties as required
🤝 Execute any other duties assigned by superiors
