Position Overview
The Early Childhood Homeroom Teacher (Kindergarten) is a dedicated educator who designs and delivers rich, engaging, and play-based learning experiences tailored to young learners. This teacher understands the unique developmental needs of early childhood learners and cultivates an inclusive classroom environment that fosters exploration, creativity, agency, and social-emotional growth.
The teacher works closely with colleagues and families to ensure meaningful learning aligned with AISJ’s inquiry-based, concept-driven framework.
Key Responsibilities

Design a developmentally appropriate, play-based, and inquiry-driven curriculum.

Build a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom that supports each child’s identity, culture, and developmental stage.

Assess and document learning using diverse, formative, and developmentally appropriate tools.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with families, including regular communication and conferencing.
-
Collaborate with colleagues to plan transdisciplinary units and shared learning goals.
-
Actively supervise and engage students both in and outside the classroom.

Participate in co-curricular activities and whole-school events.
-
Support student behaviour and wellbeing proactively and constructively.
-
Be a professional learner, engaging in continuous reflection and growth.

Contribute to the overall learning community and mission of AISJ.
Minimum Qualifications
-
A four-year degree in Education (Early Childhood focus).

Early Childhood teaching certification.
-
Current and valid teaching license (appropriate to age level).
Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in Education.

International school experience in early years education.
-
Strong background in concept-based and play-based learning.

Understanding of differentiation and responsive instruction.

Experience in curriculum and assessment design.

Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning.

Deep knowledge of early childhood development and wellbeing.
