Key Purpose Statement

The Afrikaans Teacher will play a key role in building students’ foundational knowledge, guiding them toward independent learning, and contributing to a diverse and inclusive educational environment. This role includes academic delivery, student support, co-curricular participation, and professional development within a future-focused educational setting.


Principal Accountabilities

Academic Delivery (40%)

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and 21st-century skills.

  • Incorporate technology, additional learning resources, and future-focused practices.

  • Support students academically and emotionally.

  • Participate in professional development, co-curricular programmes, and school events.

Academic Assessment and Reporting (20%)

  • Assess student progress continuously using tools like STASY and maintain detailed records.

  • Use data to inform teaching strategies.

  • Participate in moderation, reporting, and academic assessments.

Student Behaviour Management (10%)

  • Establish a positive and respectful classroom environment.

  • Identify and support students with barriers to learning.

  • Promote student well-being and mentor where required.

School Brand Ambassadorship (10%)

  • Represent the Crawford International brand professionally.

  • Participate in marketing activities, open days, and school community events.

  • Contribute to professional development initiatives.

Administration (10%)

  • Manage timetables, excursions, inventories, and classroom environments efficiently.

  • Assist with school operations and event coordination.

Health & Safety (10%)

  • Supervise students during activities.

  • Apply first aid as required.

  • Promote safety awareness and report hazards promptly.


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree (NQF Level 6) + PGCE or B.Ed (Intermediate/Intersen/Senior/Foundation Phase).

  • SACE Registration and Police Clearance.

  • Valid Driver’s Licence.

  • Willingness to teach across subjects and phases.

  • Minimum 3–5 years teaching experience or 1-year internship (at discretion).

  • IB PYP training is advantageous.
