About the Internship:
TUT is inviting South African unemployed graduates who are currently registered MA Counselling Psychology students to apply. There are 4 internship vacancies. Interns will provide student counselling services, support psycho-educational initiatives, and gain supervised practical experience in line with HPCSA requirements. Shortlisted candidates may be required to present and/or undergo competency testing.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently registered as an MA Counselling Psychology student at a recognised university

  • South African citizen

  • Strong communication, counselling, mentoring, and guidance skills

  • Ability to work individually and in teams

  • Time and stress management skills; ability to prioritise and work independently

  • Teamwork, initiative, creativity, and innovation

  • Effective presentation, lecturing, and facilitation skills

  • Adherence to professional code of ethics and confidentiality


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional counselling services to TUT students

  • Support students’ academic and personal development

  • Participate in psycho-educational programmes, presentations, and training

  • Offer individual and group counselling to children at a local children’s home

  • Meet administrative requirements within SDS

  • Contribute to effective team functioning
