Founded in 1896 and set in the scenic KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Michaelhouse is a prestigious Anglican independent senior boarding school for boys (Grade 8–12). The school invites suitably experienced candidates to apply for the role of:

Start Date: January 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for logistics, administration, pupil behaviour, co-curricular oversight, and pastoral coordination. The successful candidate will play a key part in the daily operations and strategic development of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach academic subjects and uphold the high academic standards of the school
Manage school operations, calendars, events, duty rosters, and logistics
Oversee and enforce disciplinary procedures fairly and in line with school policy
Maintain and develop school policies
Supervise Health & Safety, risk management, and Sanatorium operations
Lead co-curricular departments (sports, culture, outdoor education, clubs)
Ensure quality assurance, accreditation, and compliance with relevant legislation
Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee
Participate in general school management (admissions, staff recruitment, etc.)
Act as liaison with the Operations Department (transport, catering, facilities)

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualified teacher with Senior Leadership / Executive-level experience
Strong pastoral knowledge, especially within a boarding school environment
Familiarity with legal and procedural frameworks for school discipline in South Africa

Strong pastoral leadership skills with a balanced approach to nurture and discipline
Gravitas to inspire respect and confidence from students, staff, and parents
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
Strategic thinking and team leadership
Strong planning, organisational, and financial management skills
Discretion and confidentiality at the highest level
