About the Role
Weir Minerals is looking for a Fitter & Turner Apprentice to join their Johannesburg team. This role is designed for individuals eager to learn, machine, assemble, and maintain mechanical components while working towards becoming a fully qualified tradesperson.

Key Responsibilities

Safety: Commit to zero-harm behaviors and a world-class safety culture.

Operations: Gain hands-on experience in plant operations, machinery, and maintenance.

Technical Skills:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, symbols, and tolerances.

Perform machining operations such as turning, facing, threading, boring, and tapering on various metals.

Operate manual machines: lathes, milling machines, drilling machines.

Use measuring instruments: outside/inside micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, telescopic gauges, and thread gauges.

Mechanical Fitting: Align shafts, bearings, couplings, and perform hydraulic/pneumatic fittings.

Apprenticeship Program: Complete a 3–4 year structured program in line with company and SETA requirements.
Education & Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science.

N2 or higher in Mechanical Engineering (Fitting & Turning).

Higher qualifications (N5/N6 in Engineering) are advantageous.
