About the Role
Oakhill School, an independent co-educational day school in the scenic town of Knysna, is seeking a Part-Time Academic Support Specialist for Grade 1–7. This role is part of a supportive school-based team that helps students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing academic remediation and accommodations, particularly in Numeracy and Literacy, to ensure every student thrives in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Work effectively in a diverse learning environment to support students with different needs.

Provide numeracy and literacy support for students in Grades 1-7.

Collaborate with teachers, facilitators, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.

Participate as a member of the school-based support team.

Develop and implement individual support plans for students in need of assistance.

Provide both individual and group intervention support.
-
Support students with homework, classwork, and study skills.

Assist students in developing executive functioning skills (organization, time management, etc.).

Offer guidance and facilitator training (including reading/scribe training).

Be flexible and adaptable in response to students’ changing needs.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Qualifications in academic support, remediation, or inclusive education.

Strong collaboration and communication skills.
-
Experience in working with diverse learning needs and developing support strategies.
-
Ability to develop and implement individual support plans.
-
Knowledge of technology skills relevant for academic support.
-
Experience with reading/scribe training and facilitator training is preferred.
