Afrikaans FAL/Hospitality Studies Educator
The Bay Academy is an independent school in Hout Bay, Cape Town, committed to building pathways to success for every learner. We are currently transitioning from the Pearson Edexcel International Curriculum to the CAPS National Senior Certificate, and this is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team during a period of growth and innovation.
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and highly skilled teacher with proven experience teaching both Afrikaans FAL and Hospitality Studies up to Grade 12 level. The successful candidate will play a pioneering role in establishing and leading both departments, contributing to a vision where each learner’s unique strengths are nurtured, and their potential is realised.
Requirements:

Relevant teaching qualification and SACE registration.

Minimum of three years’ experience teaching Afrikaans FAL and Hospitality Studies up to Grade 12 (NSC) level.

Strong understanding of CAPS requirements, assessment standards, and curriculum planning.

A proven track record of academic excellence and learner success.

Ability to develop engaging, relevant, and challenging learning experiences.

Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and implementation of the Afrikaans FAL and Hospitality Studies curricula in line with CAPS.

Prepare learners for excellence in Grade 12 NSC examinations.

Build departmental resources, structures, and culture from the ground up.

Collaborate with colleagues to align teaching strategies with the school’s pathways-based vision.

Inspire learners to see both Afrikaans and Hospitality Studies as valuable tools for personal and professional growth.
