Job Overview
Exxaro Resources is seeking an Artisan Aide to join the Matla Coal team in Kriel. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, diverse environment focused on stewardship, innovation, and continuous learning.
The Artisan Aide will support skilled artisans in servicing, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling equipment to ensure operational efficiency and workplace safety.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification (Essential)

AET Level 4 (Essential)

Any of the following Skills Programmes (Essential):

AA Fitting including Machinery

AA Diesel Mechanic
-
AA Plater Welder
-
AA Electrical
-

1 year technical support experience in a heavy industry environment

Psychometric Assessment (to be conducted by Exxaro)

Certificate of Fitness (to be conducted by Exxaro)

Basic fault-finding & analytical skills

Ability to conduct first-level inspections (mechanical & electrical)

Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations

Basic welding, cutting, and refractory installation skills
Duties & Responsibilities

Assist artisans with servicing, maintenance, and overhauls of equipment

Conduct first-level inspections and basic fault-finding
-
Support continuous maintenance of production equipment
-
Recondition components and spares; test functionality before installation

Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations

Maintain good housekeeping and promote safe practices
-
Respond quickly to breakdowns and report issues to supervisors

Perform basic welding, cutting, and refractory installation tasks

Collaborate effectively with diverse team members

Demonstrate agility, accountability, and commitment to operational excellence
