Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

  • Provide technical support for hardware and software, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of incidents.

  • Install and deploy new equipment (workstations, peripherals) and software.

  • Relocate computer equipment as needed.

  • Update resolutions in IT Service Management systems.

  • Assist in deploying new applications and research/test new technologies.

  • Provide onsite technical support during events and after-hours as required.

2. Relationship Support

  • Ensure client satisfaction by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders and escalate issues as needed.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all users.

3. Quality Assurance

  • Follow and contribute to relevant policies, procedures, standards, and SOPs.

4. Professional Development

  • Maintain competency through professional reading, training, and development activities.

  • Fulfil performance management responsibilities.


Inherent Requirements

  • Higher Certificate (NQF Level 5) in IT-related field.

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant technical support experience.

  • Professional certifications: CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+.

  • Valid driver’s license.


Recommendations / Advantageous Qualifications

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7).

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting technical problems.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and Mac OS.

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting/move equipment.

  • Knowledge of Higher Education ICT policies.

  • Apple certification, ITIL certification.
