Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Technical Support
-
Provide technical support for hardware and software, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of incidents.

Install and deploy new equipment (workstations, peripherals) and software.
-
Relocate computer equipment as needed.
-
Update resolutions in IT Service Management systems.
-
Assist in deploying new applications and research/test new technologies.
-
Provide onsite technical support during events and after-hours as required.
2. Relationship Support
-
Ensure client satisfaction by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
-
Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders and escalate issues as needed.
-
Communicate clearly and effectively with all users.
3. Quality Assurance
-
Follow and contribute to relevant policies, procedures, standards, and SOPs.
4. Professional Development
-
Maintain competency through professional reading, training, and development activities.

Fulfil performance management responsibilities.
Inherent Requirements
-
Higher Certificate (NQF Level 5) in IT-related field.
-
Minimum 1 year of relevant technical support experience.
-
Professional certifications: CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+.
-
Valid driver’s license.
Recommendations / Advantageous Qualifications
-
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7).

Knowledge of troubleshooting technical problems.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and Mac OS.

Ability to perform heavy lifting/move equipment.

Knowledge of Higher Education ICT policies.

Apple certification, ITIL certification.
