🎯 Job Overview
The Auto Electrician will maintain mobile equipment to maximize reliability and availability while meeting production targets. The role involves inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing light motor vehicles, mobile cranes, and other equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This position is part of the Engineering & Maintenance Plant (E&M) team at a J4 level, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities

Adhere to health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping

Maintain and test vehicles, cranes, and machinery to ensure safety and reliability

Conduct inspections to identify possible failures and report defects

Ensure maintenance of plant equipment to optimize utilization and production

Monitor work progress to minimize downtime and ensure operational targets are met

Provide advice on maintenance and ad hoc jobs, ensuring best practices are followed

Liaise with personnel for resources required to complete tasks successfully

Assist supervisors and co-workers and follow company policies to achieve objectives

Complete job cards and ensure proper handover between shifts

Maintain equipment installations and post-installation work according to maintenance strategy
🧠 Qualifications & Experience
-
Grade 12 / N3 Technical
-
Occupational Red Seal Certificate as an Auto Electrician
-
SA Driver’s Licence (Code B)

2 years operational experience as an Auto Electrician

Knowledge of safety standards, PLC exposure, high/low voltage fault finding
-
Familiarity with H1 communication systems, Profibus, S7 PLC programming, optic fibre, and high voltage networks (11 kV)

Understanding of lock-out procedures
