Job Summary

Rola Toyota Somerset West is looking for an Automotive Apprentice (Learner Technician) to be trained and developed to kickstart a technical career in the motor industry with a special focus on PDR.

The role involves performing high-quality, efficient paintless dent repairs on vehicles by restoring body panels to their original condition without the need for repainting or body filler. The aim is to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain the value of vehicles.

Minimum requirement: Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science as subjects.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science (essential)

  • Automotive subject advantageous

  • Young, vibrant, and willing to learn

  • Technical skills and enthusiasm for motor vehicles

  • Good timekeeping and ability to work under pressure

  • Good communication skills in English & Afrikaans (training mostly in English)

  • Previous PDR experience (advantageous)

  • Previous experience in automotive repair industry or dealership workshop (advantageous)

  • Must reside within reasonable commuting distance to Somerset West or surrounds

  • Valid South African driver’s license

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces for extended periods

  • Ability to lift light to moderately heavy equipment

  • Visual acuity and hand steadiness required


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified technicians with PDR repairs while training towards full qualification

  • Learn accurate time-keeping on all jobs

  • Understand Repair Order Instructions before work begins

  • Learn job planning and part identification for ordering

  • Attend prescribed training

  • Assess damage and determine PDR repair feasibility

  • Repair dents, dings, hail damage, creases, and imperfections without affecting original paint

  • Use specialized PDR tools and techniques (rods, lights, glue pulling, knockdowns, etc.)

  • Document repairs and maintain accurate repair records

  • Ensure work meets manufacturer and dealership quality standards

  • Communicate repair progress with Service Advisors/Workshop Controllers

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
