Position Overview:
St Alban’s College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Basketball High-Performance Coach to lead our college basketball program. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of basketball, a passion for developing student-athletes, and a commitment to fostering a competitive and positive team culture. This role requires a coach who can teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills while instilling values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline.
Responsibilities:
Coaching & Player Development:

Plan, organise, and conduct practices and games.
-
Develop and implement effective offensive and defensive strategies.
-
Provide individual and team instruction to improve skills, conditioning, and game performance.
-
Promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
-
Assist with the organisation of tours for all age groups.
Team & Program Management:
-
Oversee all aspects of the basketball program.
-
Coordinate with the Director of Sport for scheduling, transportation, and facility use.

Manage the program budget and inventory of equipment and uniforms.

Ensure compliance with all school, district, and league rules and regulations.
Administrative & Community Engagement:
-
Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and the community.

Organise and run trials and team selection processes.

Participate in fundraising activities and community events to support the program.
Qualifications:
Experience:
-
Proven experience as a basketball coach at a senior school, club, or university level.
-
Success in player development and team management.
-
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and techniques.
Skills:

Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
-
Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
-
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
-
Knowledge of athletic training, injury prevention, and sports psychology.

Excellent administration skills.
-
Ability to work closely with other sporting codes for the benefit of student-athletes.
Education & Certifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
-
Valid coaching certification.
-
Clean background check required.
