Unitrans is seeking Professional Bus Drivers with proven experience to drive buses and transport passengers on scheduled services over established routes. The role involves ensuring the safety of passengers, operating the bus, and complying with traffic laws and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Drive the bus safely to transport passengers on established routes.

Control lighting, heating, and ventilation for passengers’ comfort.

Observe prescribed speeds, traffic conditions, and signals to ensure safe arrival.

Ensure passengers arrive at their destinations on time.
-
Comply with all traffic laws and avoid infractions and accidents.
-
Perform routine bus inspections and report any malfunctions or deviations.
-
Adhere to safety procedures and report incidents or property damage.
-
Record events and incidents in logbooks and report to supervisors.
-
Maintain a clean vehicle and handle luggage as required.

Participate in training sessions and safety meetings.
-
Ensure vehicles are refueled and maintained in good condition.

Always drive in a professional manner, respecting the customers’ needs.
Minimum Requirements:

Code EC or EC1 driver’s license with a valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit).

Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
-
Previous experience in Coach/Bus driving (Touring experience is advantageous).

Safety-oriented with strong customer service skills.

Professional appearance and conduct.

Excellent communication and navigation abilities.

Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to handle luggage and maintain vehicle cleanliness.

Basic mechanical knowledge is advantageous.

Willing to undergo in-house training and medical examinations.

Punctuality and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Follow WSWPs procedures and the Unitrans Passenger rules.
-
Report near-misses, incidents, and property damage to the supervisor.

Inspect the bus for deviations or malfunctions before each trip.

Record defects and report them immediately.
-
Participate in DSS sessions and training activities.
-
Ensure vehicles are refueled and cleaned at all times.
-
Maintain accurate logbooks and report activities and incidents.
-
Ensure that the vehicle is parked safely with wheel chocks and use seatbelts at all times.

Maintain a positive attitude towards customers and deliver excellent service.

Follow traffic laws and respect company policies.
