Job Description
Thomas More College seeks a dedicated and reliable Campus Caretaker to join the Facilities team. This live-in role is ideal for a single individual who values a well-maintained and safe campus environment. The role demands flexibility, practical maintenance skills, and readiness to attend to after-hours needs and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Facilities Manager and Estate Manager, the Campus Caretaker will:

Assist with daily maintenance, repairs, inspections, and minor projects

Complete job cards and comply with Health & Safety regulations
-
Perform routine vehicle, trailer, and bus checks and ensure servicing/compliance
-
Manage movement of furniture and equipment, and collect materials as needed

Support school events: setup, equipment handling, post-event pack-up
-
Refuel and operate generators during power outages
-
Respond to plumbing, electrical, or security emergencies
-
Provide after-hours and weekend standby support, including occasional bus driving
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and operational campus environment
Skills & Experience Required
-
3–5 years of proven maintenance experience (electrical, plumbing, or general repairs)

Hands-on, proactive, and problem-solving approach
-
Committed to the Christian Ethos of the school

High integrity, reliability, and ability to work both independently and within a team
-
Strong communication and time-management skills
-
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and handle emergencies
-
Valid Code C1 Driver’s Licence with PDP (essential)

Knowledge of Health & Safety and emergency protocols

Must adhere to the School Code of Conduct

Criminal and Sexual Offender’s Clearance Certificate required
