Kingsmead College is seeking a dynamic, influential, and strategic leader to assume the executive role of Campus Manager. In partnership with the Executive Head, the Campus Manager will be responsible for leading the operational stewardship of the school’s physical environment, safety, and infrastructure. The role will involve ensuring the effective functioning and continuous improvement of the campus, supporting the school’s educational mission.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Health & Safety & Community Security

  • Maintain, monitor, and enforce comprehensive health, safety, and security protocols across the entire school campus.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and ensure compliance with OHS, fire, and relevant statutory regulations.

  • Manage safety drills, emergency responses, fire equipment servicing, and first-aid readiness in collaboration with authorities and internal teams.

  • Act as the primary liaison for security contractors, armed response teams, and internal stakeholders on security planning and incident management.

Preventative & Strategic Maintenance

  • Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance schedule for buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and vehicles.

  • Oversee servicing of equipment, plant, machinery, systems, and school fleets to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

  • Initiate and lead improvement or special projects—upgrades, renovations, and grounds enhancements—aligned with strategic planning and CAPEX budgeting.

Team Leadership & Operations Management

  • Lead and coordinate service staff, estate staff, drivers, and maintenance teams—assign tasks, manage performance, facilitate training, and conduct evaluations.

  • Manage campus scheduling for maintenance, events, and functions, including support for setup, logistics, and service coordination.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including OHS, Fire Safety, and Health & Safety Acts.

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, risk assessments, maintenance logs, and safety documentation.

  • Contribute to annual budget planning, establishing CAPEX and maintenance reserves in collaboration with leadership.

Vendor Management & Procurement

  • Source, evaluate, and manage contracts with external service providers—maintenance vendors, security firms, cleaning services, and contractors.

  • Handle procurement of consumables, tools, and materials following procurement policy and budget constraints.

  • Coordinate and monitor external contractors on site to ensure satisfactory work and compliance with OHS requirements.


KEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Unquestionable integrity and values-driven leadership.

  • Qualification in Property and/or Facilities Management, Engineering, or related fields.

  • At least 7+ years of proven experience in Facilities and Estate Management.

  • Strong experience in assessment, reporting, and developing thorough action plans.

  • Technical knowledge and capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions.

  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and fostering collaboration.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with employees and external contractors at all levels.

  • Understanding of the LRA, BCEA, and OHS Acts.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent programs.

  • Previous experience working in a school environment would be advantageous.
