Job Description

RCL Foods is seeking an experienced Channel Representative for its Baking Division. The role will focus on addressing operational customer needs, ensuring improved route optimisation, driver efficiency, and sales growth.

The position will be based in Vryburg, North-West and report to the Regional Sales Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Own reliable vehicle

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a Sales function

  • Driver–salesman experience beneficial

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Efficient and cost-effective product distribution

  • Ensure driver teams deliver according to mapped and optimised routes

  • Ensure customers are plotted on the GPS system

  • Improve truck utilisation (loaves/km)

  • Verify driver invoices against loading lists

2. Balancing of orders placed, delivered and returned

  • Monitor daily driver orders for informal trade customers

  • Track and reduce returns with corrective action plans

3. Daily sales reporting

  • Ensure driver sales align with sales targets

  • Source and distribute trade intelligence

  • Provide improvement plans and monitor competitor activities

4. Customer account management

  • Capture and classify new and existing customer details correctly

5. Driver competency and time management

  • Support, train, and lead driver & assistant teams

  • Implement efficient route riding systems

  • Provide on-the-job training and performance feedback

6. Monitoring Trade Prices

  • Submit weekly informal trade price surveys

  • Monitor retail selling prices (RSP) and execute pricing strategies

7. Customer Relationship Building

  • Grow sales volume and market share in General Trade stores

  • Develop strategies to gain new business with Informal Sales Representatives

  • Handle complaints, queries, and ensure merchandising standards

  • Provide route optimisation and rationalisation support

  • Act as liaison between customers and drivers for seamless service
