Minimum Requirements:

Education & Qualification:

  • Grade 12 and a valid Driver’s License (Code 10) with a valid PDP.

Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

  • Good numeracy skills for handling transactions and orders.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of driving experience within FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods).

  • Previous experience in delivering and selling FMCG products for cash to existing and new customers is required.

General Requirements:

  • Maintain a valid Driver’s Licence and valid PDP.

  • Expected to work weekends and public holidays.

  • Overtime and standby duties may be required, particularly in the event of driver absenteeism.


🛠️ Duties & Responsibilities:

Dress and Vehicle Duties:

  • Maintain a clean vehicle and adhere to high hygiene standards.

  • Wear and use prescribed PPE at all times.

  • Perform vehicle checks as per the company checklist and report any faults immediately.

  • Ensure safe driving practices and report any accidents or damage in line with company procedures.

  • Report vehicle theft, fuel theft, or damage to the Logistics Manager.

Stock and Loading:

  • Check stock loaded matches customer orders and report discrepancies to the Route Controller.

  • Ensure stock quality is up to standard and notify the supervisor if issues arise.

  • Assist with loading as needed and ensure road safety is not compromised.

Van Assistants:

  • Supervise the van assistant, ensuring they are present, well-presented, and perform their duties according to company standards.

  • Report any performance issues to the Route Controller and maintain a harmonious working relationship with the van assistant.

Sales and Customer Relations:

  • Always be friendly, helpful, and respectful towards customers.

  • Increase sales by identifying opportunities for new customers and enhancing relationships with existing ones.

  • Report customer losses and make proactive efforts to win back customers.

  • Ensure promotions are executed as required by the company.

Deliveries:

  • Deliver stock according to the customer’s order and ensure all customers receive their order.

  • Monitor stock levels to ensure all customers are served without exceeding delivery limits.

  • Recover crates and ensure their return to the bakery premises daily.

Transactional Duties:

  • Safeguard cash and transactional documentation, using the vehicle safe to secure it.

  • Deposit cash immediately and report any counterfeit or fraudulent activities.

  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation (invoices, delivery notes, loading schedules, etc.).

  • Perform cash-ups at the end of the route, and ensure that all money and loafage is accounted for.

Product/Service Competitor Analysis:

  • Collect information on competitor products, sales, and customers.

General:

  • Assist in any aspect of the business as required, such as performing the duties of a van assistant or loader.

  • Comply with health and safety standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Report any health issues that may affect your ability to drive safely.
