Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12/NQF level 4.

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Stakeholder Relations Management, or a related qualification (NQF level 7).

  • 7 – 9 years’ experience in the related field, with at least 4 years in a line management position or equivalent experience leading/coordinating a team.


Primary Function:

Support the Marketing function in executing the marketing plan/strategy across various platforms. This role focuses on short-, medium-, and long-term marketing objectives while building the City’s brand image and equity.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Originate/produce, deliver, and implement integrated corporate marketing services in alignment with the strategy, communications, marketing, and events activities.

  • Lead market research efforts to evaluate the viability of existing products/services.

  • Create commercially viable, strategic partnerships and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage brand reputation and maintain the City’s corporate identity.

  • Provide leadership and guide the sub-directorate’s personnel to ensure high productivity and performance.

  • Oversee financial, risk, compliance, and supply chain management within the sub-directorate.

  • Define immediate, short-, and long-term marketing objectives and plans for corporate marketing services.


Leading Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office Packages (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Solid networking, negotiation, and PR skills.

  • Professional judgment, discretion, and people management skills.

  • Ability to make sound decisions and resolve conflicts.

  • Budget management and proficiency.

  • Analytical skills for research and data analysis.


Core Competencies:

  • Knowledge of government legislation, policies, procedures, and practices related to marketing, communications, and stakeholder relations.

  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.

  • Experience in HR, supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

  • Knowledge of budget preparation and administration.

  • Risk management understanding.

  • Strong change management and collaborative skills.

  • Commitment to Batho Pele principles and professionalism.
