Job Summary:

St Andrew’s School for Girls, an esteemed 123-year-old independent institution, is seeking a dynamic and passionate professional for the position of Deputy Head Senior School: Pedagogy and Operational Leadership. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior School and Executive Head, and play a key role in pedagogical leadership, operational management, and overall academic and co-curricular success of the Senior School.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management: Oversee pedagogy and operational functions, including communication within the Senior School.
Student Discipline: Support the school’s restorative approach to discipline and ensure adherence to the school ethos.
Staff Management: Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
Teaching: Maintain a reduced teaching load while contributing to the academic environment.
Co-Curricular Activities: Actively contribute to and attend co-curricular activities at the school.
Conflict Management: Manage conflicts and mediate between colleagues, students, and parents.
Communication: Maintain strong verbal and written communication with all stakeholders.

Requirements:

Academic and Professional Qualifications: Suitable academic qualifications aligned with the role.
Experience: At least 5 – 10 years of experience in a Deputy Head or Head of Department position.
SACE Registration: Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
Pedagogical Knowledge: Experience with the IEB curriculum and assessment standards is an advantage.
Technology Skills: Proficiency in using technology in the teaching practice.
Leadership Style: Commitment to servant leadership and the school’s ethos of values-driven, Christian education.
Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, resilient, able to work under pressure, and able to inspire, motivate, and empathise at all levels.
Clearance: Willingness to apply for clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register.
