Purpose of the Role
St Andrew’s College is seeking an outstanding educational leader to take on a strategic and pastoral role within the school. Reporting directly to the Headmaster, the Deputy Headmaster will drive transformation, oversee student welfare and safeguarding, and ensure a holistic and enriching school experience for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership in pastoral care, student wellbeing, and school culture

Oversee the boarding experience, ensuring it is safe, enriching, and supportive

Lead cultural, service, and community engagement initiatives
-
Uphold and enhance safeguarding and child protection standards
-
Collaborate across academic and co-curricular domains for a well-rounded pupil experience

Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the school community
Qualification & Experience Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Essential)
-
Postgraduate qualification in Leadership, Pastoral Care, Counselling, or Educational Management (Preferred)

Professional Teaching Qualification (Advantageous)
-
Will be expected to teach a half-timetable in IEB/Cambridge A-Level
-
Minimum 10 years in educational/youth leadership roles
-
Proven experience in pastoral care, student wellbeing, or school culture
-
Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and compliance
-
Involvement in co-curricular and leadership development programming
