Purpose of the Role

St Andrew’s College is seeking an outstanding educational leader to take on a strategic and pastoral role within the school. Reporting directly to the Headmaster, the Deputy Headmaster will drive transformation, oversee student welfare and safeguarding, and ensure a holistic and enriching school experience for all pupils.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in pastoral care, student wellbeing, and school culture

  • Oversee the boarding experience, ensuring it is safe, enriching, and supportive

  • Lead cultural, service, and community engagement initiatives

  • Uphold and enhance safeguarding and child protection standards

  • Collaborate across academic and co-curricular domains for a well-rounded pupil experience

  • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the school community


Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Essential)

  • Postgraduate qualification in Leadership, Pastoral Care, Counselling, or Educational Management (Preferred)

  • Professional Teaching Qualification (Advantageous)

  • Will be expected to teach a half-timetable in IEB/Cambridge A-Level

  • Minimum 10 years in educational/youth leadership roles

  • Proven experience in pastoral care, student wellbeing, or school culture

  • Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and compliance

  • Involvement in co-curricular and leadership development programming
