Position Overview:

WHPS seeks a highly experienced and dedicated Director of Pupil Affairs and Senior Prep Teacher to join its Senior Management Team. This is a dual-role opportunity, combining classroom teaching with pastoral leadership, responsible for promoting the academic success, wellbeing, and holistic development of all pupils.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach academic subjects in the Senior Preparatory Phase

  • Serve as a Register Class Teacher

  • Provide leadership in pastoral care, promoting physical, mental, and social wellbeing

  • Oversee and support the Pupil Support Team, including the school counsellor

  • Serve on the Senior Management Team, contributing to school leadership and policy

  • Fulfil safeguarding and duty of care responsibilities

  • Promote personal excellence and mentor boys through empathetic and structured support

  • Fully support and participate in the academic, sporting, cultural, and extra-mural programmes


Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching qualification and SACE registration

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a preparatory school environment

  • Ability to teach Senior Prep subjects and integrate technology into learning

  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and conflict resolution skills

  • Proven leadership or management experience

  • Excellent English communication and report-writing skills

  • Strong understanding of pastoral care, child development, and wellness support

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to deliver holistic education


Advantageous Skills:

  • Coaching experience, particularly in boys’ sport

  • Track record in leading wellness programmes or parent/staff development workshops

  • Experience in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives

  • Willingness to participate in boarding duties

  • A balanced, empathetic, yet structured approach to pupil guidance and discipline
