Position Overview
Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) is offering an exciting Electronic Technician Internship opportunity based in Somerset West, Cape Town. As an intern, you will be supporting engineers and technicians with various tasks related to electronic hardware fabrication, testing, and analysis. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in the electronic and mechatronic fields, with exposure to industry standards and cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities

Circuit Fabrication Support:

Assist with soldering, kitting, and component verification for circuit boards.

Electronic Hardware Fabrication:

Help with the fabrication and assembly of electronic hardware under the guidance of engineers and technicians.

Data Collection & Analysis:
-
Support data collection and help with reporting for system improvements.

Component Procurement:
-
Assist in procuring necessary components for electronic systems.

Test & Evaluation Support:
-
Provide assistance with test and evaluation activities for electronic systems.

Manufacture Tooling & Test Items:

Help in manufacturing tooling and other test items needed for the department.

Test Equipment Maintenance:

Setup, operate, and maintain test equipment for electronic testing.

Compliance:

Adhere to all relevant SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) and Quality standards, following company policies and ISO standards.

Qualifications & Skills
-
Minimum Qualification:
-
Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.

Desirable Skills & Experience:
-
Experience in prototyping and design of electronic hardware.
-
Hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC routing, or other CNC applications is an advantage.

Other Skills:
-
Strong planning and organizational abilities.

High degree of responsibility and discipline.

Basic understanding of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) in the workplace.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Additional Requirements:

Code B Driver’s License is an advantage.
