FET (Grade 10–12) Science Teacher

Cape Town Torah High (CTTH) is an Independent International High School registered with the WCED and located in Gardens, Cape Town. We seek a dynamic and committed teacher to join our team as soon as possible, fully qualified to teach in a South African high school and registered with SACE.

This full-time position requires a teacher with at least 3 years of experience teaching Physical Sciences and Life Sciences to Grades 10–12. Experience teaching Afrikaans is an added advantage.

Role Overview:

You will serve as both teacher and mentor, primarily offering one-on-one instruction in your subject areas and supporting other areas as needed. The successful candidate must also manage learners’ academic schedules and progress, ensuring timely completion of coursework.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Physical Sciences and Life Sciences (Grades 10–12)

  • Support students in understanding content (not CAPS, but UNHS curricula)

  • Facilitate and supervise science experiments

  • Monitor student deadlines for coursework, projects, and assessments

  • Offer one-on-one academic assistance and remediation

  • Create and provide additional learning resources

  • Teach one additional subject (e.g., Afrikaans or PE)

  • Daily markbook updates and student performance tracking

  • Attend daily staff meetings and termly parent-teacher meetings

  • Organise relevant educational outings

  • Participate in professional development sessions


Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified and experienced in teaching Grade 10–12 Physical Sciences and Life Sciences (non-negotiable)

  • Experience teaching Afrikaans is advantageous

  • SACE registered with valid documentation

  • Excellent digital literacy and proficiency in Google Suite

  • Strong communication, organisational, and multitasking skills

  • Passionate about student development and capable of inspiring confidence

  • Comfortable working in a culturally sensitive, values-based school environment

  • Willingness to understand and respect Jewish practices and traditions

  • Modest attire and respectful behaviour aligned with the school’s ethos
