Key Responsibilities
As the FET Phase Head at Curro Academy Sandown, your responsibilities will include:

Performing teaching duties, including lesson planning, using modern tools and processes.

Setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement.
-
Managing phase administration and academics, including creating and reviewing annual and termly plans and timetables, allocating staff duties, coordinating tutoring classes, and overseeing communication, scholarships, and budgeting.

Managing the phase curriculum through pre- and post-rollout reviews, checks, and moderation.

Planning and managing assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including creating rosters, conducting moderation, and supervising revision sessions.

Mentoring grade heads, including conducting interviews, appraisals, and mediation.

Managing interventions and discipline according to Curro policies and the code of conduct.

Planning and organizing school events.

Designing and setting up classrooms/learning environments for optimal performance.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Qualifications:
-
BEd, BA, or BSc degree and/or PGCE in FET (a management diploma is advantageous).

SACE registered.
-
Clear criminal record.
-

Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a departmental head, with experience as a grade or subject head considered advantageous.

Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.

Skills:
-
Proven management and leadership abilities.

Ability to lead and mentor teachers.
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
-
Willing to work overtime, weekends, and engage in school activities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.
