Job Purpose
To monitor, control, and optimize the geometrical processes across hang-on assembly and press parts, ensuring conformance to all customer-specific requirements, particularly in cold and hot joining technologies.
Key Responsibilities
-
Monitor and control geometric process inputs and outputs.
-
Analyze geometry of single press and assembled parts using FMK and GOM Inspect.
-
Adjust part fixtures to meet customer geometry specifications.
-
Conduct shim pack analysis and compliance checks.
-
Analyze impact of Intec sealer and hemming systems on geometry.
-
Validate and adjust KUKA robotic programs.
-
Perform micro sectioning analysis of sealer and hemming effects.
-
Compile and present technical findings (internal & to customers).
-
Conduct root cause analysis and systemic problem solving using tools such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, and 8D.

Apply FMEA, Control Plan, and other quality tools.
Knowledge & Skills Required

Geometry analysis and fixture methodology.

KUKA Robotics programming and Siemens PLC knowledge.

Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
-
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / NQF Level 6

Qualified Artisan (advantageous)

KUKA Programming 1 certification

Siemens PLC TIA Portal Pro knowledge

Minimum 10 years experience in automotive/vehicle manufacturing

At least 3 years hands-on experience with:

KUKA Robotics
-
Hemming applications
-
Siemens PLC systems

Familiarity with BMW-specific quality requirements
