GERMAN TEACHER (SAL)

Somerset College is a proud partner of the Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) programme and an accredited DSD I and DSD II examination centre.
The successful candidate must:

Have a minimum of five years’ experience teaching German as a Second Additional Language (SAL) within the IEB curriculum

Have DSD experience and/or strong familiarity with the CEFR framework up to C1 level (advantageous)

Be able to teach German (SAL) across Grades 8–12, including preparation for DSD I and II examinations
-
Plan the curriculum in alignment with both IEB and DSD standards
-
Assist with DSD examination administration, training workshops, and exchange programmes
-
Deliver lessons that are current, relevant, and inspire confidence and proficiency in German among students

Demonstrate proficiency in using technology to enhance classroom teaching
-
Be familiar with digital language teaching tools

Provide mentoring and pastoral care to students

Contribute actively to the school’s extramural programme

Work collaboratively within a team of teachers
-
Exhibit strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills

Hold the necessary academic and professional qualifications
