Internship Overview:
- The South African-German Energy Project (SAGEN-CET), implemented by GIZ and funded through the German government, offers a 6-month graduate internship as an intern – Gender Mainstreaming Aid. This program seeks enthusiastic graduates who can be a part of the gender-sensitive action of stakeholder involvement and communications initiatives within the energy industry. This role provides hands-on experiences to promote gender equality in the environment of South Africa’s transition to energy.
Minimum Requirements:

- Completed undergraduate degree in:
- Gender Studies
- Social Sciences
- Environmental Studies
- Energy Policy
- Development Studies
- or a similar field that is relevant to social justice and energy
- South African citizens or valid Permanent Resident holders
- It is essential not to have taken part in any previous interning program.
- Experience or interest in the areas of gender mainstreaming, empowerment for women and diversification
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Great writing, research, and interpersonal capabilities
- The ability to function effectively in a multi-cultural working setting
Responsibilities:
- Assist cross-functional teams in gender-focused energy projects.
- Facilitate stakeholder involvement and gender-sensitive policies
- Participate in the design of initiatives to promote gender equality
- Assist in logistics, communication and the management of knowledge
- Facilitate and organize the organization of events, workshops as well as workshops and
- Participate in M&E report and keep track of the how the project is progressing
- Do research about the latest trends and policy issues related to energy and gender.
- Salary for Internship: R148,800 per annum (R12,400/month)
