Position Overview:
The King’s College & Preparatory School Bryanston is seeking to appoint an experienced Foundation Phase remedially trained teacher. The successful applicant will work in a progressive educational environment, demonstrating high academic expectations and aligning with the school’s K.I.N.G.S values. The individual must be innovative, passionate, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment.


Professional Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed.) or an appropriate teaching qualification, preferably with a specialization in Foundation Phase education.

    • A Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Remedial Education.

    • Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).

    • At least 2-5 years of remedial teaching experience in the Foundation Phase.

  • Experience and Skills:

    • Experience working with learners who have special educational needs, learning difficulties, or developmental delays.

    • Understanding of common learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD, and language delays.

    • Ability to assess and identify learning barriers and implement individual education plans (IEPs).

    • Skills to modify and adapt the curriculum to meet the specific needs of learners.

    • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in children requiring remedial support.

    • Ability to teach using a variety of methods tailored to diverse learning needs.

    • Aptitude for innovative teaching methodologies and fostering a collaborative approach to learning.

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).

    • A patient, cooperative, and collaborative mindset.

    • A willingness to participate in the school’s extracurricular programme and all school activities.

    • Alignment with the school’s Christian principles and foundational values.
