Highbury Preparatory School seeks to appoint a Grade 1 Learner Support Class teacher.
Commencement:
January 2026
The Successful Applicant Will:
-
Identify with the values and ethos of the school.

Have 4+ years’ experience in remedial teaching in the Foundation Phase or experience in remedial support.
-
Hold a Degree in Education or a Degree with an additional Diploma in Education, specialising in the Foundation Phase (postgraduate).
-
Have further specialised training and qualifications in Remedial or Special Needs education.
-
Be passionate about teaching boys and assisting children with barriers to learning.
-
Possess strong administrative and organisational skills.
-
Have sound report-writing skills.
-
Be a good communicator with parents, staff, and associated therapists.
-
Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
-
Be SACE registered.
-
Have a Criminal and Sexual Offenders Clearance Certificate.
Key Performance Areas:
-
Grade 1 Remedial Class teacher.
-
Implement programmes and initiatives aligned with the strategic vision of the school.

Plan and implement an educational programme relevant to Grade 1 Learner Support Class (LSC) criteria.
-
Develop and reassess curriculum in line with governmental requirements.
-
Stay abreast of educational trends, new developments, and best practices in teaching and learning support.
-
Experience with interpreting Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Speech & Language Reports.

Track pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
-
Work with online learner management systems, such as Google Classroom.
