Job Summary

An opportunity for chemistry graduates to gain practical experience in analytical chemistry, method development, and laboratory quality systems under Rand Water’s Graduate Development Programme.


Minimum Requirements

  • Four-year qualification (NQF 8) in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.

  • Experience in research projects and relevant laboratory techniques.


Primary Duties

  • Develop and validate new analytical methods or enhance existing ones in the field of Analytical Chemistry.

  • Perform complex chemical analyses and provide scientific and technical troubleshooting.

  • Document and verify test results in designated databases.

  • Conduct and document quality control checks in accordance with ISO 17025 accreditation standards.

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper documentation.

  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) practices and maintain excellent housekeeping.


Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of analytical chemistry methods and techniques.

  • Familiarity with good laboratory practice (GLP).

  • Basic knowledge of statistics.

  • Understanding of project management principles.


Skills

  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Strong ability to prioritise, organise, and plan effectively.

  • Skilled in analytical methodologies and the use of laboratory instruments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
