About the Role:

St Stithians Girls’ College seeks a passionate and innovative Head of Department for Afrikaans. The successful candidate will report to the Faculty Head of Languages and teach Afrikaans from Grades 8 to 12. This is an opportunity to lead a dynamic department in a school committed to developing confident, ethical young women in a diverse and inclusive environment.


Minimum Requirements:

  • A professional teaching qualification with a degree in Afrikaans or related field (mandatory)

  • Minimum 8 years of teaching experience in the FET phase (Grades 10–12), preferably in an IEB school

  • SACE registration and a valid sexual offender’s clearance certificate

  • Inspirational and innovative teaching approach

  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills

  • Commitment to embracing diversity, supporting learners across all levels

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the South African curriculum and global educational trends

  • Ability to integrate ICT and technology into classroom practices

  • Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills

  • Active participation in pastoral care and co-curricular programmes

  • Willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of a forward-thinking school

  • Alignment with the Christian ethos and values of the College
