Role Overview
Lead and manage the Geography department with responsibility for teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring. The role demands a dynamic educator passionate about both physical and human Geography and dedicated to inspiring learners.
Key Responsibilities

Teach Geography at the FET (Grades 10-12) level with a strong academic record
-
Mark IEB Matric Geography exams and contribute to curriculum development
-
Develop teaching and assessment materials aligned with IEB standards
-
Inspire and challenge students, nurturing their full potential
-
Integrate ICT, GIS, and other technologies into teaching practices
-
Organize and manage field trips, environmental projects, research initiatives, and participation in Olympiads and competitions
-
Mentor experienced teachers and interns within the department

Collaborate with other Heads of Departments to enhance Geography education and curriculum development

Support students needing academic assistance
-
Embrace change, demonstrate initiative, and work decisively as part of a team

Commit to the school’s ethos, co-curricular activities, and safeguarding policies
Essential Qualifications & Skills
-
Proven teaching experience in Geography at FET level
-
Familiarity with IEB marking and curriculum development (advantageous)

Strong knowledge of physical and human Geography
-
Experience with GIS applications, spatial data analysis, and environmental sustainability projects
-
SACE registration and a valid sexual offender’s clearance certificate
-
Excellent leadership, mentoring, communication, and organizational skills
