Role Overview
The Head of Department – Lower Primary (Pre-school to Grade 4) will:

Lead and strategically develop the Lower Primary department.

Mentor, support, and line-manage Lower Primary teachers.

Ensure excellent curriculum delivery and world-class teaching standards.
-
Teach a Lower Primary class.
-
Promote pastoral, spiritual, and character development in line with the school’s Christian ethos.

Serve as part of the School Management Team (SMT).
Candidate Profile
Essential:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education (or equivalent).
-
3+ years’ leadership experience in an educational setting (preferably Lower Primary).
-
5–7 years’ full-time teaching experience (ideally in ISASA or ISAZ schools).
-
Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
-
Proven ability to inspire and motivate staff and pupils.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents.

Commitment to safeguarding and holistic child development.
-
Alignment with Chengelo’s Christian values and mission.
Desirable:
-
Knowledge of Jolly Phonics, Cambridge Primary, or PYP curriculum.

Passion for Christian education and an understanding of African school contexts.
