The school seeks to appoint a Head of Department (HOD) for Physical Sciences. This is a key leadership role requiring deep subject expertise and the ability to manage both curriculum and a team of educators in a dynamic, high-performing IEB school environment.
Commencement Date: 1 January 2026
Key Requirements and Experience:

Relevant professional teaching qualifications in GET and FET phases
-
SACE registration with valid clearance certificates
-
At least 5 years’ experience teaching Physical Sciences at Grades 10–12 level, preferably in an IEB or independent school

Proven departmental leadership or management experience

Strong curriculum planning, development, and assessment capability
-
Experience as an IEB moderator and/or marker is advantageous
-
Innovative and effective teaching strategies (e.g., inquiry-based learning, flipped classroom models)
-
Excellent classroom management, organisational, administrative, and communication skills
-
Proficient in integrating technology into teaching

Computer literacy in Google Suite and Microsoft Office

Willingness to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme

Strong interpersonal skills with scholars, staff, and parents

Alignment with the Christian ethos and holistic educational philosophy of Penryn
