Role Overview:
African Leadership Academy is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Operations to lead the organization’s operational functions and help execute its strategic vision. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing one of Africa’s most diverse and dynamic residential learning communities, focusing on facilities, grounds maintenance, security, hospitality, and more.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a proven track record in operational leadership and a passion for enabling young leaders to thrive within Africa’s unique educational landscape.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy: Lead the Operations department, ensuring alignment with the Academy’s broader mission and strategic objectives.

Operational Excellence: Oversee the daily operations and long-term planning for all aspects of the residential campus, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality service delivery.

Contractor Management: Manage relationships with key contractors in facilities, grounds and maintenance, security, and hospitality.

Sustainability & Innovation: Foster a culture of long-term financial and environmental sustainability, addressing challenges in the operational landscape.

Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, creating a collaborative and transparent work environment.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire the Operations team to perform at their highest level, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of all operations on the campus.
Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in operations management within a medium-to-large-sized organization with a significant physical footprint.

Proven track record in managing complex operations, particularly within educational facilities or large residential campuses.

Expertise in managing multiple contractors (facilities, grounds, maintenance, hospitality, security).

Strong background in strategic planning, financial sustainability, and environmental responsibility.

Ability to create and execute operational strategies that align with the broader vision of the organization.

Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

Strong values, integrity, and sound corporate governance practices.

Ability to develop and sustain meaningful partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
