Fedics, part of Tsebo Solutions Group, is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to oversee food safety and health and safety procedures in the workplace. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with statutory regulations, promote health and safety awareness, and conduct inspections to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Coordination: Oversee and coordinate investigation and inspection procedures related to health and safety.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, and review obligations and responsibilities under the act.

  • Risk Management: Execute corrective actions and preventive measures based on investigations and audits.

  • Safety Awareness: Promote and maintain awareness of health and safety standards across all sites.

  • Administrative Duties: Manage reporting requirements and ensure proper documentation, including food sample collection as per Quality Assurance standards.

  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) system and recommend improvements.

  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct unannounced audits, inspections, and investigations to assess staff readiness and identify corrective actions.

  • Hygiene Standards: Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.

  • Tertiary Qualification in a related field is essential.

  • SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Course) and/or a recognized Health & Safety Qualification is essential.

  • 2 years of experience in a health and safety-related role.

  • Experience in managing SHE systems and knowledge of OSH Act policies and procedures.
