Position Overview
Thomas More College seeks to employ a dynamic, visionary, and high-functioning Subject Head of History to lead the High School History Department. The ideal candidate is an inspired educator, passionate about History, committed to academic excellence, and eager to grow the subject’s popularity among learners.
Key Responsibilities

Aligning curriculum with IEB standards and school assessment policies

Staying current with developments in educational best practices

Executing all responsibilities of a senior educator

Collaborating positively with colleagues and stakeholders

Leading and managing the History Department with intention and energy
-
Engaging with online Learning Management Systems (Google Classroom, EdAdmin)

Maintaining accurate academic and attendance records
-
Motivating and inspiring students in the History classroom

Offering individualised academic support and enrichment
-
Promoting the subject through creative, innovative teaching methods
Minimum Requirements
-
Relevant teaching qualification with specialisation in History
-
SACE registration
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching Grade 12 History, preferably in an IEB context

Strong alignment with the Christian ethos of the school

Clear Criminal and Sexual Offender’s Clearance Certificate
-
Previous leadership experience in a History Department (highly recommended)

Proven ability to apply alternative and creative pedagogies

High emotional intelligence, resilience, and team spirit

Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills

Willingness to contribute to the extracurricular programme
