Position Overview

Kingsmead College is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and skilled leader to fill the role of Head of Department: Junior School Sport.
The Junior School spans Grade 000 to Grade 7, and the successful candidate will lead a diverse and active student community, ranging from competitive athletes to learners participating socially to develop healthy lifestyles.

The sports programme aims to instill life skills such as teamwork, respect, commitment, work ethic, and long-term athletic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and monitor the Junior School sports programme
Collaborate with the HOD Senior School Sport and HODs of sporting codes to implement a cohesive sports strategy
Coordinate sports fixtures, events, and schedules
Organise inter-house sports events with Sporting Code HODs and Heads of Houses
Lead a fair and efficient recruitment process for coaching staff
Oversee use and maintenance of sports facilities and equipment
Manage the Junior School Sports budget
Maintain accurate records and ensure policy compliance
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students
Report to the Deputy Head: Beyond the Classroom

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Relevant Education or Sports degree or professional qualification
SACE registration
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar leadership role within a school environment
Proven coaching and sports management ability; expertise in at least one sporting code
Excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills
Knowledge of current trends in Education & Wellness (ideally in girls’ schools)
Strong interpersonal and teamwork-building skills
Self-motivated, physically active, and a positive role model
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
High integrity and values-driven leadership approach
Ability to work independently
Strong leadership and team management experience
