Introduction:
Mintek is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented HR Intern to assist with recruitment, training administration, and HR-related tasks. This internship will provide exposure to various HR processes, including recruitment, employee assessments, and training management. The role offers an excellent learning opportunity for those looking to gain hands-on experience in human resources within the scientific and research industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment Process Administration:

    • Responsible for the entire recruitment process for junior positions and talent pipeline initiatives.

    • Send, receive, and record employment applications, ensuring completeness.

    • Assist with pre-interview screening, testing, and assessments.

    • Ensure candidates have the right to work in South Africa.

    • Support HR Business Partners (HRBPs) by conducting and facilitating pre- and post-interview briefings/feedback.

    • Administer competency and psychometric assessments, as required.

    • Conduct reference checks and arrange interviews with interview panels.

    • Complete all recruitment and new joiner documentation, including employment contracts.

    • Organize pre-employment occupational health assessments.

  2. Training Administration:

    • Assist with compiling the training calendar and course registrations.

    • Process payments related to training and monitor attendance.

    • Distribute pre-work and training materials to delegates.

    • Prepare attendance registers and evaluation forms for learning interventions.

    • Ensure accurate recording and capturing of all training-related data.

    • Assist with the administration of bursaries and the processing of bursary payments to universities.

  3. General HR Support:

    • Provide support and advice to staff on HR-related matters.

    • Assist the Skills Development Officer with consolidation of learning records for SETA, BEE, EE reporting, and WSP/ATR.

    • Prepare training rooms and ensure that all HR operational tasks are carried out efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualifications:

    • Honours or NQF Level 8 in HR, Industrial Psychology, or a similar relevant industry qualification.

    • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is ideal but not required.

  • Skills & Experience:

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

    • Strong administrative skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
