About the Internship

The University of the Free State (UFS) is offering a 2-year internship contract (40 hours per week) across its campuses. The programme provides unemployed graduates with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in Student Academic Services.

Stipend: R9,100.50 per month

Duties and Responsibilities

Interns will:

Assist with data entry, documentation, and processing of student records
Support enrolment and admissions processes for new and returning students
Maintain accurate academic records, transcripts, and certificates
Assist with examinations and graduation preparations
Provide administrative support in student services
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and quality assurance standards
Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and workshops

Minimum Requirements

National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6) in one of the following fields:
- Administration / Office Administration
- Administrative Management / Public Management
- Business Management / Business Administration
- Communication / Public Relations
- Computer Sciences / Computer Information Systems / Data Management
- Project Management

Additional Requirements:

Applicants must not be part of another learnership or internship programme
Applicants must not have prior formal work experience
Must be willing to sign an internship agreement with UFS

Recommendations:

Basic computer literacy (Microsoft 365 and related software)

Competencies

Ability to adapt to changing environments
Strong organisational and detail-orientation skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Teamwork and collaboration skills
High levels of motivation, energy, and enthusiasm
