Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, experienced isiXhosa educator to teach Grades 6–9 as a First Additional Language (or Home Language if applicable), who is excited by the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, student-centered school community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach isiXhosa FAL in alignment with the CAPS curriculum through inquiry- and project-based methods

  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs

  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback

  • Maintain accurate academic records and participate in afterschool support programs

  • Serve as a homeroom teacher and support various class activities

  • Collaborate on departmental and whole-school initiatives

  • Stay updated on educational best practices through ongoing professional development

  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment

  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree + PGCE (Senior & FET Phase)

  • Specialisation in isiXhosa Home Language or First Additional Language

  • SACE registration (in good standing)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching isiXhosa at high school level (preferred)

  • Ability to design and moderate assessments is advantageous

  • Strong command of educational technology

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • A clean criminal record

  • Passion for isiXhosa language, literature, and culture
