Role Purpose
The Specialist: IT Network Security will be responsible for implementing, operating, and continuously improving secure and resilient network security controls across the enterprise.
The role focuses on Cisco FTD, Fortinet, Cisco ISE (NAC), VPN, IDS/IPS, and Algosec automation, applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure availability, compliance, and rapid incident response.
Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate network security services (Cisco FTD/Fortinet firewalls, VPN, Cisco ISE, IDS/IPS).

Provide Tier-3 support, incident response, and problem management.

Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation for network security incidents.

Conduct health checks, drive automation, and improve rule hygiene and capacity management.

Ensure compliance with PCI/SOX and manage rule exemptions using Algosec.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and translate Vodafone security requirements into effective solutions.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education:
-
Matric (Essential)
-
3-year Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related field (Essential)
Experience:
-
3–5 years in Network Security Engineering/Operations
-
Certifications in Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security (incl. FTD), Fortinet NSE4+, or Algosec (Essential)
-
Training in Cisco ISE, SRE Foundation, ITIL, or Cloud Network Security (Advantageous)
Technical Knowledge

Strong hands-on experience with:

Cisco FTD/FMC
-
Fortinet FortiGate
-
Cisco ISE (802.1X, posture, TACACS+)
-
VPNs (AnyConnect/SSL, IPsec)
-
IDS/IPS, Algosec, and Firewall Automation

Familiarity with Python/Ansible/REST scripting for automation

Experience in observability tools (SNMP, syslog, SIEM/SOAR)

Understanding of SRE principles (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident remediation)
